Cardiovascular system Heart, blood vessels, and blood
Deliver Substances Transports chemical messengers, oxygen from lungs, glucose from digestive system to body cells
Removes Wastes Takes wastes from cells. Ex.blood transports carbon dioxide from body cells to your lungs where it is exhausted
Regulate Body Tempature Changes ammount of blood flow in skin helps carry heat away of prevents loss
Fight Disease Blood contains cells that attack disease-causing microorganisms
What is the role of the heart Pumps blood through blood vessels to body
Heart. Hollow, muscular organ
Septum Tissue that separates the left side of the heart from the right side of the heart
Atrium Releases blood that comes into the heart /upper chamber
Ventricle Pumps blood out of the heart/ lower chamber
Pacemaker Group of cells in right atrium that signals to make the heart contract
Valve Flap of tissue that prevents blood from flowing backwards, separates ventricles and large blood vessels
Arteries Carry blood away from heart and them flows into the capillaries
Capillaries Tiny blood vessels where substances are exchanged between blood and body cells. Blood then enters veins
Veins Carry blood back to the heart
Aorta Largest artery in body
