| cohesion | The attraction among molecules of the same substance |
| pH | A scale that measures the H+ concentration of a solution |
| enzyme | the catalyst for chemical reactions in living things |
| acid | compound that donates a proton (H+) when dissolved in a solution |
| element | substance made of only one type of atom that cannot be broken down by chemical means |
