angular momentum the quantity of rotation of a body, which is the product of its moment of inertia and its angular velocity.
acidification to make acid; to convert into acid
adiabatic processes one in which no energy transferred as heat occurs across the boundaries of the system.
el nino a series of climatic changes affecting Pacific region every few years, characterized by unusually warm, nutrient-poor water, typically in late December.
guyot a seamount with a flat top.
upwelling a rising of seawater, magma, or other liquid
non-point source pollution pollution that comes from many diffuse sources
benthos the flora and fauna found on the bottom, or in the bottom sediments, of a sea, lake, or other body of water
la nina a cooling of the water in the equatorial Pacific that occurs at irregular intervals and is associated with widespread changes in weather patterns complementary to those of el niño, but less extensive and damaging in their effects.
secondary pollutants not directly emitted as a pollutant and is often a reaction to primary pollutants
