Heredity The passing of traits from parents.
Trait A characteristic that an living thing can pass,
Purebred The offspring of many generations with the same traits
Hybrid An organism that has two different alleles.
Offspring The product of the reproductive process of a child.
Gene Information that controls a trait.
Alleles Forms of a gene.
Dominant An allele whose trait always shows up.
Recessive An allele that is masked.
Phenotype The physical appearance.
Geneotype The genetic appearance.
Homozgous Two identical traits.
Heterozgous Two different traits.
Codominance A condition in which of the two alleles.
Meiosis The process of formation of sex cells
Haploid Cells A cell that is the result of meiosis and has half the number of chromosomes as the original cell.
Diploid Cells A cell that is the result of mitosis and has the same number of chromosomes as the original cell.
Mutations A change in a gene.
Insertion A action of doing something.
Deletion A loss of a nucleic acid.
Substiution The action of repalcing a person.
Sex-linked Gene Gene on the X and Y chromosome.
Carrier Is a person who has one recessive allele.
Sex Chromosome A pair of chromosomes carrying genes.
Genetic disorder Abnormal condition that somebody inherits.
Pedigree Family tree.
Selective Breeding Selecting a few organisms.
Inbreeding A selective breeding method.
Hybridizaiton A selective breeding method which two genetically are crossed.
Clone An organism that look identical to a living thing.
Genetic Engineering The transfer of a gene from the DNA.
Gene therapy The insertion of working copies.
Karyotype A picture of all the chromosomes.
Fertilization A sperm and a egg join together.
Probability Numbers that describes the likely event will occur.
Punnet Square A chart that shows all the possible mix.
Messenger RNA Copies the coded message from code
Transfer Rna RNA that carries an amino acid.
Multiple alleles Three or more gene code.
Genome DNA in one cell.
