| seminal vesicles | stores & adds nutrients sperm |
| ejaculatory duct | carries fluid produced in seminal vesicles |
| prostate gland | located just below the bladder, secretes fluid to make sperm move |
| cowper's glands | 2 small glands located beside urethra, they produce mucus for lubrication |
| penis | male sex and urinary organ |
| genitalia | reproductive organs |
| vulva | external female genitalia |
| labia majora | 2 large, hair covered, lip-like structures; part of the vulva |
| labia minora | 2 large, hairless, lip-like structures; part of the vulva |
| clitoris | sensitive structure located just behind the juncture of the labia minora |
| ovaries | 2 small glands located on either side of the uterus |
| ovulation | once a month when ovum matures and discharges from ovary |
| fallopian tubes | 2 tubes between ovaries and uterus |

| endometrium | tissue that lines the uterus |
| vagina | located between bladder & rectum, female organ of copulation |
| puberty | "coming of age", girls between 9 and 17 |

| trichomonas vaginitis | STD; vaginal inflammation with white smelly discharge |
| leukorrhea | white, foul-smelling vaginal discharge |
| gonorrhea | STD; cause acute inflammation |

| PID pelvic inflammatory disease | inflammation of the pelvic area |
| syphilis | chronic, contagious STD if left untreated produces chancres, rashes, and systemic lesions |
