Minerals

TermDefinition
minerals a naturally occurring solid that has a crystal structure and is made up of elements.
luster a term used to describe how light is reflected from a mineral's surface
streak the color of a mineral's powder.
hardness how easily a mineral can be scratched
Moh's Scale a scale that rank's ten minerals from softest to hardest.
fracture describes how a mineral looks when it breaks apart in an irregular way.
cleavage a mineral that splits easily along flat surfaces has this property
inorganic not formed from living things or the remains of living things.
