| Natural resources | Any material removed from the earth and used by people |
| Renewable resources | Any resource that can be replaced by nature |
| Fossil fuel | Fuel formed millions of years ago from the remains of dead plants and animals- ex: coal oil and natural gas |
| Wind energy | Energy created by moving air |
| Biomass energy | Any material such as wood that comes from living things and can be used as fuel |
| Hydropower energy | Use of mechanical energy of falling or running water to general electricity (H & O for H2O) |
| Solar energy | Energy from the sun |
| Geothermal energy | Energy produced from the heat in the earth |
| Nuclear energy | Energy locked within the nucleus of an atom |
| Nonrenewable resources | Any resource that cannot be replaced by nature |
