aphelion a point of a planets orbit when it is closest to the sun
Phases of the moon the parts when the moon makes it full roatation
solar eclipse an eclipse where the sun is blocked by the moon
lunar eclipse a phase where the moon is darkened by the earths shadow
terrestrial planet a planet that is all rock and sediment
Jovian planet a planet that is all gas
asteroid small rock that orbits the sun
comet small rock that is made of ice and dust
meteoroid small body moving in the solar system
meteor small rock that becomes a streak of light when in earths atmosphere
meteorite a meteor that survives its passage though earths atmosphere and strikes ground
electromagnetic spectrum the range of wavelengths and frequencys
Photon a particle representing a quantum of light or other electromagnetic radiation
Doppler effect an increase or decrese in sound frequency
refracting telescope a telescope that uses a converging lens to collect light
reflecting telescope a telescope that uses mirrors to collect and focus light
radio telescope an instrument used to detect radio emissions from the sky
Hubble telescope a telescope that provides information about the universe
space shuttle a rocket launched space craft used to make repeated journeys between earth and orbit
