| Renewable Energy | energy from a source that is not depleted when used, such as wind or solar power. |
| Geothermal | of, relating to, or produced by the internal heat of the earth. "Some 70% of Iceland's energy needs are met from geothermal sources." |
| Fuel | material such as coal, gas, or oil that is burned to produce heat or power. |
| Nonrenewable | a nonrenewable energy source. "the availability of oil or other nonrenewables is not a concern to modern environmentalists" |
| Fossil Fuels | a natural fuel such as coal or gas, formed in the geological past from the remains of living organisms. |
| Conservation | preservation, protection, or restoration of the natural environment, natural ecosystems, vegetation, and wildlife |
| Pollution | the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects |
| Pollutants | a substance that pollutes something, especially water or the atmosphere. |
| Air Polution | the presence in or introduction into the air of a substance which has harmful or poisonous effects |
| Water Pollution | The addition of harmful chemicals to natural water. |
| Contour Plowing | plowing along the contours of the land in order to minimize soil erosion. |
| Windbreaks | a thing, such as a row of trees or a fence, wall, or screen, that provides shelter or protection from the wind. |
| Conservation Plowing | Conservation Plowing is a soil conservation method in which the dead stalks from the previous year's crop are left in the ground to hold the soil in place. |
| Crop Rotation | the system of varying successive crops in a definite order on the same ground, especially to avoid depleting the soil and to control weeds, diseases, and pests. |
| Fallow | plowed and harrowed but left unsown for a period in order to restore its fertility as part of a crop rotation or to avoid surplus production. |
