| Question | Answer |

| Purpose | The problem that the lab activity is designed to solve. Usually in a form of a question. |
| Research | Gather information. Find out as much information as possible. |
| Hypothesis | Possible explanation for the problem. If...Then...Because statement. An educated guess. |
| Experiment/Procedure | Step by step activity to confirm or disapprove the hypothesis. |
| Record and Analyze Data | Written observations, measurements, and other important information taken during the experiment. |
| Drawing Conclusions | Results of the experiment using evidence to support or disapprove your hypothesis. |
| Repeat | Conduct the experiments sees, hears, feels, smells, tastes and measurements. |
| Observations | What a person performing the experiment sees, feels, smells, tastes, smells and measurements. |
| Qualitative Observations | General observations using you senses. |
| Quantitative Observations | Specific observation using your senses and measurements. |
| Variable | The factor being tested. |
| Control | Setup that is exatcly like the experimental setup except that is does not contain the variable |
