TermDefinition
Uniformitarianism A change that happens slowly.
Catastrophism A change that happens all of a sudden.
Original Horizontality All layers have to be horizontal.
Law of Superposition It states that the oldest layer is on the bottom and the younger is on the top.
Relative Dating (age) Around the age by the law of superposition
Absolute Dating (age) The exact age
Index Fossil A fossil that lived short.
Petrified fossil When water flows throw and hardens it.
Trace Fossil The actions of a fossil
Mold It is concave and is a imprint of the fossil
Cast It is convex and is a copy of the fossil.
