TermDefinition
Anatomical Position The position of the human body with the face forward and hands at the side.
Supine Position When the body is lying face up.
Prone Position When the body is lying face down.
Frontal (coronal) plane Any vertical plane that divides the body into belly and back sections
Sagittal (median) plane The vertical plane that divides the body into equal left and right halves.
Transverse Plane The plane that Divides the body into superior and inferior parts.
Abdominal Of, in, or on the abdomen (stomach area)
Acromial The outward end the the spine, shoulder blade area.
Antecubital In front of the elbow.
Brachial Belonging to the arm, foreleg, or from the shoulder to the elbow.
Carpal The wrist area, or the carpus.
Cervical The neck area.
coxal The hip area
