Scientific Method

| science | a way of learning about the natural world and the knolage gained through that problem |
| scientific inquiry | the diverse ways in which scientists explore problems and seek to anser qustions about the natural world |
| observation | using all five senses to gather information |
| inference | an interseption based on opservation and prior knowledge |
| hypothesis | a possable explonation for a set of opservations or an anser to a scientific qustion |
| controled experiment | an experiment in which all factors except one ar kept constant |
| variable | any factor that can change in an experiment |
| manipulated variable | the one factor that a scientist changes during an experiment;also called the indipendet variable |
| responding variable | the factor that changes as a result of chanes made by the manipulated in the experiment; also called the dependent variable |
| data | the facts, figures, and other things gained through opservations |
| scientific theory | a well tested theary that supplys a wide range of oppservations |
