Scientific Method

Important Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Hypothesis Educated guess on the outcome of an experiment.
Dependent Variable -Y axis The variable that will respond (depend) on what you manipulate on the x-axis
Independent Variable -X axis The variable that you change,(manipulate). It causes the Y -axis to respond.
Conclusion Statement of correctness (my hypothesis was right/wrong)
Constants Items that stay the same so you know what causes your results
Control Item used for comparison (ex. Does tide clean better than gain)
