What are the external structures and landmarks of the ears that need to be assessed size&shape, skin condition, tenderness, external auditory meatus
What are the external structures and landmarks of the nose that need to be assessed? symmetry, nasal cavity, patency of nostrils, nasal mucosa, nasal septum, turbinates; also palpate sinus area
What external structures and landmarks of the mouth need to be assessed? Lips, teeth and gums, tongue, buccal mucosa, palate
What do you need to assess in regards to the throat? Tonsils, check for lesions, pharyngeal wall, uvula
What are assessment findings of the eyes? Elaborate on what your looking for in each structure... central visual acuity (snellen chart/clock), visual fields, extracocular muscle function, external ocular structures, eyebrows, eye lids, sclera, conjunctiva
What are assessment findings of the ears? size, shape, drainage, skin condition
What are assessment findings of the nose? Observe nasal septum for symmetry, inspect nasal mucosa. inspect turbinates, palpate sinus area
What are assessment findings of the mouth? inspect gums for bleeding, lips, teeth, tongue, buccal mucosa, palate for abnormal bumps or discoloration
What are assessment findings of the throat? Check tonsils, and throat walls for normal pink.red color, swelling, abnormalities
What are some health history qs. that can be asked in regards to the eyes to gather subjective data? are corrective lenses worn? Any prior infections? Any visual difficulty? Pain? Redness/swelling? Any discharge or watery eyes? Glaucoma? Ask about pt. centered care
What are some health history qs. that can be asked in regards to the ears to gather subjective data? Any earaches? Prior infections? Discharge? Hearing loss? environmental noise? tinnitus? vertigo? ask about pt. centered care
What are some health history qs. that can be asked in regards to the nose to gather subjective data? Any discharge? frequent colds? sinus pain? trauma? epistaxis (nose bleeds)? allergies? noticeable altered smell?
What are some health history qs. that can be asked in regards to the mouth&throat to gather subjective data? Any sores or lesions? bleeding gums? toothaches? hoarseness? dysphasia? alterations in taste? do you smoke? do you drink alcohol? ask about pt. centered care
What kinds of examinations are done to determine visual acuity? Snellen Chart or a wall clock
Visual field tests assess what? Your peripheral vision
