Ecosystems

| ecology | the study of the interactions of living organisms with one another and with their environment. |
| biotic | describes living factors in the environment. |
| abiotic | describes a non-living part of the environment, including water, rock, light, and temperature. |
| population | a group of organisms of the same species that live in a specific geographical area. |
| community | all the populations of species that live in the same habitat and interact with each other. |
| ecosystem | a community of organisms and their abiotic environment. |
| biosphere | the part of Earth where life exists. |
| prey | an organism that is getting eaten by another organism |
| predator | an organisms eating another organism |
| carrying capacity | the largest heathly population you can support at a given time |
| symbiosis | a relationship in which two organisms live very close to each other |
| mutalism | a relationship with two organisms and both benefit |
| commensalism | a relationship with two organisms and one benefits and one is unaffected. |
| paratism | a relationship with two organisms and one is a parasite and it benefits, and the other organism does not benefit. |
| coevolution | an evolution of two species that is due to the mutual influence, often in a way that benefits both organisms. |
