| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Fluid | A substance that deforms continuously by subjection of a shear stress at any magnitude. |
| Uniform flow | Flow parameter are same in magnitude and direction at every point |
| Non-uniform | At an instant parameters arenot same at every point. |
| Steady flow | Parameters may differ from point to point but do not change with time. |
| Unsteady flow | At any point, parameters change with time |
| Laminar flow | All particles flow In smooth parallel paths without deviation. Velocity vector is along direction only. |
| Turbulent flow | Particles move in irregular patterns |
| Transition flow | Fluctuates between laminar and turbulent flows |
| Incompressible flow | If the density in the flow remains constant attributed to velocity of flow |
