Experiment | An organized procedure to study something under controlled conditions |

Hypothesis | testable idea or explanation that leads to a scientific investigation |
Variable | a factor that changes in an experiment in order to test the hypothesis |
Independent Variable | The factor that is changed or manipulated in an experiment |
Dependent Variable | The result of the change in a scientific investigation due to the independent variable |

Measurement | A description that includes a number and a unit (42 meters) |
Quantitative | Information that is expressed by a number or quantity |
Qualitative | Information that concerns quality or kind |
Scientific Notation | expressing the quantity as a number multiplied by 10 to the appropriate power |
Accuracy | How close a measurement is to the true value of the quantity measured |
Precision | The exactness of a measurement |
technology | The application of science for practical purposes: the use of tools, machines, and processes to meet human needs |
engineering | The application of science and mathematics to solve real-life problems |
