What are atoms? The building blocks of matter.
Protons Have a positive charge. The amount of protons determines element. Changing protons, changes element.
Neutrons Have no charge, same size as proton.
Electrons Have a negative charge, smallest of particles.
Density Mass [grams]/Volume [cm3 or ml]
5 characteristics to be a mineral Inorganic, Naturally Occuring, Solid, Crystalline Structure, Definite Chemical Composition
Classifed based on Hardness, luster, cleavage, streak, color
Igneous Rocks form when magma cools and crystallizes and can form intrusive or extrusive. [Granite]
Sedimentary Rocks form when sediments are buried and cemented together, in a process called lithification. [Limestone]
Metamorphic Rocks form when other rocks are subjected to intense heat and pressure and can be formed through contact or regional metamorphism. [Gneiss]
