Life Science The study of living things
Scientific Methods A series of steps followed to solve problems
Hypothesis An explanation that is based on prior scientific research
Controlled Experiment An experiment that tests only one factor at a time by using comparison of a control group with an experimental group
Variable A factor that changes in an experiment in order to test a hypothesis
Model A pattern designed to show the structure of an object or concept
Theory An explanation that ties together many observations.
Law A summary of many experiments.
Technology The application of science for practical purposes
Compound Light Microscope An instrument that magnifies small objects.
Electron Microscope A microscope that focuses a beam of electrons to magnify objects
Area A measure of the size of a surface or a region
Volume A measure of the size of a body or a region in three-dimensional space
Mass A measure of the amount of matter in an object
Temperature A measure of how hot or cold something is.
