| orgenelle | a structure inside a cell the has a specific job |
| Nucleus | Control center of a cell that directs all functions |
| Cytoplasm | gel like material that holds organelles in place |
| Mitochondria | the powerhouse of the cell where energy is stored |
| Cell membrane | a thin covering allowing cells but allowing material to flow in and out of the cell |
| Cell wall | (plants only) A stiff outer layer that gives shape to the product to protect the cell |
| Chloroplast | Organelle in the plant cells that makes food for plants using a chemical called chlorophyll |
| Tissue | A group of cells that work together for a common reason |
| Organ | A group of tissues that work together for a common reason |
| Organ System | A group of Organs that work together for a common reason |
| Orginism | A group of organ systems |
| Prokaryote | has NO NUCLEUS; can perform all actions without one |
| Eukaryote | cell that has a nucleus |
