Cell Basic unit of life
orgenelle a structure inside a cell the has a specific job
Nucleus Control center of a cell that directs all functions
Cytoplasm gel like material that holds organelles in place
Mitochondria the powerhouse of the cell where energy is stored
Cell membrane a thin covering allowing cells but allowing material to flow in and out of the cell
Cell wall (plants only) A stiff outer layer that gives shape to the product to protect the cell
Chloroplast Organelle in the plant cells that makes food for plants using a chemical called chlorophyll
Tissue A group of cells that work together for a common reason
Organ A group of tissues that work together for a common reason
Organ System A group of Organs that work together for a common reason
Orginism A group of organ systems
Prokaryote has NO NUCLEUS; can perform all actions without one
Eukaryote cell that has a nucleus
