| dialogue | a conversation between two or more charictors |
| fore showing | in use of clues to suggest events that will happen later in the plot |

| irony | what happens and is expected to happen |
| situational | what happens is different from what is expected to happen |
| verbal | contrast between what is said or what is actually meant |
| dramaric | what a charictor does not know but the reader does know |
