The rigid shell of rock that surrounds the more fluid inner layers and solid core. Lithosphere
Consists of the Earth's liquid water- oceans, lakes, rivers etc. Hydrosphere
Shell of gases that surround the earth. Atmosphere
Lowest layer, and most dense. It contains most of the mass of the atmosphere. Troposphere
Boundary seperating the troposphere from the stratosphere. Tropopause
The boundary between the stratopshere and the mesosphere. Stratopause
The boundary layer between the mesosphere and the thermosphere. Mesopause
an imaginary line that circles earth halfway between the North Pole and the South Pole. Equator
Angular distance in degrees north or south of equator. Latitude
Imaginary lines drawn around earth parallel to the equator represent lines of equal latitude. Parallels
Angular distance in degrees east or west of the prime meridian. Longitude
The science of identifying your position on earth. Navigation
Connect points of equal value on a field map. Isolines
Connect points of equal TEMPERATURE. Isotherms
Connect points of equal AIR PRESSURE. Isobars

Shows the shape of the earth's surface. Topographic/Contour Map
