Term | Definition |

Salinity | Measure of the amount of solids, or salts, dissolved in seawater. |
Photosynthesis | A process in which organisms use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make food and oxygen. |
Thermocline | Begins at a depth of about 200m, temperature drops quickly with increasing depth. |
Surface Current | Powered by wind, usually moves only the upper few hundred meter of seawater. |
Density Current | Forms when more dense seawater sinks beneath less dense seawater. |
Upwelling | A current in the ocean that brings deep, cold water to the ocean surface. |
