| Celestial Objects | A term used to describe stars, planets, moons etc. |
| Milky Way | The name of the galaxy we live in |
| The Big Bang Theory | The theory that explains how the universe began |
| Inner Planets | Planets that are made up of rock that are located between the sun and the asteroid belt |
| Outer Planets | Planets made up of gas: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune |
| Nuclear Fusion | Occurs in the core of the sun where hydrogen atoms fuses to become helium |
| Protostar | A new born star |
| Umbra | The part of the shadow directly behind the object |
| Penumbra | An outer shadow |
| Polaris | The north star which never changes positions in the sky |
