Revise the Respiratory System

QuestionAnswer
What is aerobic respiration? The combination of Oxygen and glucose to release energy.
Can you give the word equation for respiration? Glucose + Oxygen -> Energy + Water + Carbon Dioxide.
What are the products of respiration? Energy, Water, Carbon Dioxide
Can you name the chemical used to test for the presence of Water? Copper Sulfate anhydrous.
Can you name the chemical used to test for the presence of carbon dioxide? Lime water.
How does the diaphragm help us breathe? It expands and contracts to pull air in and push it back out.
Why are the rings of cartilage on the trachea important? They keep your trachea open.
What are the tiny blood vessels that surround the alveoli called? Capillaries.
What two gases are exchanged in the alveoli? Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide.
What effect does exercise have on breathing rate? It makes you breath faster.
Why does exercising have this effect on breathing rate? It uses up the oxygen in your body faster and you need more.
