Revise Living things, Cells and the Microscope

List the seven characteristics of Living things. excretion, nutrition, respiration, growth, reproduction, movement and response
What is a vertebrate? An animal with a backbone.
What is the difference between a vertebrate and invertebrate? A vertebrate has a backbone and an invertebrate does not have a backbone.
What is a key? A key is used to tell specific plants and animals apart.
Name the parts of a plant call. Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Vacuole, Chloroplasts, Cell wall.
Name the parts of an animal cell. Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Vacuole, Rhybosome,
What is the formula for magnification? Eyepiece lens magnification multiplied by objective lens magnification.
Calculate the magnification of the microscope if the objective lens is 4X and the eyepiece lens is 10X. 40X
What stain do you use to stain an animal cell? Gram stain.
What stain do you use to stain a plant cell? Iodine stain.
Why do you use a cover slip? To stop the lens getting damaged.
Define a tissue. A tissue is a group of similar cells that have a shared function.
Define an organ. An organ is a group of organised tissues
Define an organ system. An organ system is a group of organs working together.
