| Asteroids | Small rocky bodies in orbit around the sun. (Asteroid Belt between Mars & Jupiter |
| Comet | Small body of ice, rock and cosmic dust loosely packed together. Tail points away from Sun. |
| Oort Cloud | Where the comets are found, past Pluto. |
| Meteoroid | Small rocky body orbiting the sun. Similar to an asteroid but smaller. |
| Meteor | Bright streak of light caused by a meteoroid burning up in the Earth’s Atmosphere. (Shooting star) |
| Meteorite | Meteoroid that enters the Earth’s atmosphere and strikes the ground. |
| Axis | Planets rotate on this. |
| Milky Way | The name of our spiral galaxy. |
| Ellipse | Shape of the planets orbit. |
| Rotate | Turn on axis. One day. |
| Revolve | To orbit. One year. |
| Terrestrial planet | Planets with solid hard surface. |
| Gas planet | Planets made of gas. |
| Sun | The only star in our solar system. |
| Mercury | Planet with very high and low temperatures. Many craters. |
| Venus | Hottest brightest planet. Day longer than year. |
| Earth | Water planet. |
| Mars | Red planet due to iron oxide in soil. |
| Jupiter | Largest planet. Big Red Spot. |
| Saturn | Planet with the most rings. |
| Uranus | Axis tilted. Planet spins on its side. |
| Neptune | Named after the God of the Sea. |
| Pluto | Dwarf planet. Icy surface. |
