| Temperate Zone | An area of Earth where the temperature rarely gets very hot or very cold |
| Carnivore | an animal that eats only other animals |
| Herbivore | an plant eating animal |
| Predator | an animal that hunts other animals for food |
| Prey | an animal that is hunted for food by another animal |
| Food Web | When two or more food chains overlap |
| Scavenger | an animal that feeds on the remains of dead animals |
| Decomposer | a living thing that breaks down the remains of dead animals |
| Adaptation | a physical feature or a behavior that helps a living thing survive |
| Mimicry | an adaptation that allows an animal to protect itself by looking like another kind of animal or like a plant |
