| ordinary well | well tat reaches below the water table |
| artesian well | drilled in to aquifer under pressure |
| cone of depression | caused by overpumping |
| recharge | replenishment of an aquifer |
| calcite | white or colorless mineral that consists of calcium carbonate |
| stalactites | formed by the precipitation of calcite |
| groundwater | water held underground |
| carbonic acid | a very weak acid formed in solution when carbon dioxide dissolves in water. |
