| Cell membrane | An outer covering for all cells |
| cytoplasm | the inside gelatinlike material |
| cell wall | tough, rigid outer coverings that protect the cell. |
| organelle | Are within the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells |
| nucleus | directs all cell activity and is separated from the cytoplasm. |
| chloroplast | contain a green pigment (chlorophyll) |
| mitochondria | are organelles where energy is released from broken down foods. |
| ribosome | Used by cells to make their own proteins. |
| endoplasmic reticulum | extends from the nucleus to the cell membrane. |
| golgi body | Stacked, flattened membranes |
| tissue | is a group of similar cells that work together to do one job. |
| organ | is a structure made up of two or more different types of tissues that work together. |
