TermDefinition
kilogram a metic unit for describing mass: one kilogram is equal tone thousand grams
mass the amount of matter in an object
matter things that take up space and has mass (can be a liquid, gas or solid)
weight the force of gravity on an object
scale a device used for measuring weight
newton a unit of force
pressure the force exerted on an object
physics the branch of Science dealing with matter and energy. Scientists who work in physics are called physicists. they study such things as moving objects
momentum the amount of motion of a moving body (mass x velocity)
lubricant a substance such as grease or oil that reduces friction when applied as a surface coating to moving parts
