Force/Motion Week 2

TermDefinition
Velocity The speed and direction of moving objects
Resist To push or act against: something that resists a force pushes against that force
Surface The top of an object; the outside of an object; the boundary between two objects or materials
Contact The act of touching: Two things are in contact when they are touching one another
Attract To pull towards; opposite poles of a magnet come together when they attract each other
Kilogram A metric unit for describing mass: One kilogram is equal to one thousand grams
Pendulum A string or bar that is loose at one end but fixed at the other and can rotate or swing around the fixed point
Weight The force of gravity on an object
Acceleration A change in the velocity (speed, direction, or both) of a body
Scale A description of the relative size or amount of two or more things; the marks on a measurement tool that stand for particular units; a device used for measuring weight
