| Cycle | Events or actions that repeat themselves again and again |
| Full Moon | The moon with its whole disk lighted |
| Moon | the natural heavenly body that shines by reflecting from the sun and revolves about the earth in about 29 1/2 days |
| New Moon | the moon's phase when its dark side is toward the earth |
| Orbit | the path taken by one body circling around another body |
| Revolve | to move in an orbit rotate |
| Rotation | the act of turning about an axis |
| Appearance | the way something looks |
| Gravity | a force of attraction that draws particles or bodies together toward the center of the earth |
| Phase | the way that the moon looks to the eye at any time in its series of changes with respect to how it shines |
| Reflection | the of light from a surface |
| Waxing | when the moon's illumination is increasing |
| Waning | when the moon's illumination is decreasing |
| First Quarter | when the moon is one-half illuminated by the sun and occurs when the moon's illumination is increasing |
| Last Quarter | when the moon is one-half illuminated by the sun and occurs when the moon's illumination is decreasing |
