Ecosystems

These can be used to teach ecosystems to second graders.

Ecosystem all of an area's living and nonliving things
Tundra a treeless arctic area with frozen ground
Ocean large body of salt water covering the planet
Forest an area with many large trees and other plants
Desert a hot, dry, sandy area where few can live
Biome habitat with distinct climate and plant life
Parasite something that lives from another creature
Photosynthesis chemical process where plants create sugar
Environment the natural surroundings of living things
Prey animal hunted for food
Decomposer organism that breaks down organic matter
Predator an animal that hunts another animal
Diet the food or drink typically ingested
Herbivore animal that only eats plants
Carnivore a meat-eating creature
