Great Red Spot A giant, continuous storm on Jupiter.
meteorite A meteoroid that strikes the surface of a planet or moon.
Pluto Was the ninth planet from the Sun until its demotion to dwarf planet in 2006.
Mercury The smallest planet and closest to the Sun which does not have a true atmosphere.
Jupiter The largest planet in the solar system.
solar system The collection of planets and other bodies that revolve around the Sun.
meteor A meteoroid that burns up in Earth's atmosphere.
Earth The third planet from the Sun which has an atmosphere capable of sustaining life.
Saturn The second largest planet in the soar system, known for its complex ring system.
comet An object made of dust, ice and frozen gasses that forms gasses that forms a bright coma and tail as it approaches the Sun.
moon A natural satellite of a planet that is held in its orbit by the gravitational pull of the planet.
Venus This planet is similar in size to Earth and contains a thick atmosphere which causes a strong greenhouse affect.
Uranus This planet is bluish-green in color and rotate on an axis which is tilted nearly sideways.
space probe An instrument that is sent into space to gather information and send it back to Earth.
Mars Known as the red planet, it has polar ice caps and a thin atmosphere.
crater A nearly circular depression in a planet, moon, or asteroid that formed when an object from space hit its surface.
asteroid A piece of rock or metal made up from material similar to that which formed the planets.
Neptune The eighth planet form the Sun, is large and gaseous and has a storm in the atmosphere known as the Great Dark Spot.
