| Bilateral Symmetry | Body plan whose sides of the body mirror each other |
| Radial Symmetry | Body plan whose body is organized around the center or the mouth |
| Asymmetry | Has no symmetry or body plan |
| Invertebrate | An animal that does not have a backbone |
| Porifera | Phyla of sponges that are a sac of cells with many pores |
| Innate behavior | An inherited behavior that does not depend on the environment or experience |
| Learned behavior | A behavior that has been learned from experience |
| Sexual reproduction | Reproduction involving two parents |
| Asexual reproduction | Reproduction involving one parent |
| Open Circulatory System | A circulatory system in which the fluid is not contained entirely within vessels |
| Closed Circulatory System | A circulatory system in which blood circulates through vessels that form a closed loop |
| Nematocysts | Stinging tentacles of a Cnidarian |
| Cnidarian | Phyla of animals that have a central body cavity, one opening and tentacles that sting |
| Regeneration | The ability of an organism to regrow lost body parts |
