Rock Cycle
| Term | Definition |

| Cementation | Process by which a binding material acts as a cement to glue sediments together forming hard rock |
| Compaction | Pressure pushing loose sediments closer together, causing them to stick together |
| Erosion | The gradual wearing away of the Earth's surface by wind, water, and ice through movement |
| Hardness | Ability of a rock or mineral to resist scratching |
| Igneous | Type of rock formed from cooling and solidification of magma either on or within the Earth's crust |
| Luster | How the surface of a mineral reflects light |
| Metamorphic | A rock that forms from other rocks as a result of intense heat, pressure, or chemical processes |
| Mineral | Element or compound formed by nature, but not living things. It has a specific crystal structure |
| Magma | The molten material produced under the Earth's surface |
| Sedimentary | Type of rock that forms from compressed or cemented layers of sediment |
| Streak | The color of mineral in powder form. Seen by rubbing a mineral on a streak plate |
| Lava | Magma that flows onto Earth's surface |
