Mixtures and Solutions

TermDefinition
Mixture A combination of two or more substances that do not join together to form a new substance. ( CAN BE SEPARATED )
Solution A mixture in which the substances are spread out evenly between one another and cannot be told apart. ( CANNOT BE SEPARATED )
Dissolve To form a solution with another substance.
Solubility The ability of a substance to dissolve in another substance.
Solute A substance that dissolves in another substance. ( SUGAR )
Solvent A substance into which another substance dissolves. ( LIQUID )
Alloy A mixture of metals.
