Sound Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Echo A reflected sound wave is an echo. They are heard when sound bounces off a hard wall, but mostly absorded with soft wall.
Elasticity Elasticity is the ability of a material to bounce back after being disturbed. Rubber bands come back to normal shape, and are more elastic than modeling clay that stays stretched.
Density Density is how much matter or mass there is in a given amount of volume or space. The denser, the more mass in a given volume.
Loudness Loudness describes your perception of the energy of a sound. You know you are louder shouting than while whispering.
Intensity The amount of energy a sound wave carries per second through a unit area. More intensity means means louder sound, but if you walk away the intensity decreases.
