PLATE TECTONICS Theory Earth’s surface (the lithosphere) is divided into several large slabs that moves; Also known as the “tectonic plates”
DIVERGENT Plate Boundary Movement of Earth’s plates; Two “tectonic” plates moving away from each other
CONVERGENT Plate Boundary Movement of Earth’s plates; Two “tectonic” plates come toward each other
TRANSFORM Plate Boundary Movement of Earth’s plates; Two “tectonic” plates slide past one another in the OPPOSITE direction or in the SAME direction at DIFFERENT speeds
