Terms used in science

Igneous Rock Rock formed by magma cooling
Metamorphic Rock Rock formed by immense heat and pressure being applied to other rocks
Sedimentary Rock Rock formed by sediment being compacted and cemented
Sediment Little bits of rock or mineral that is created by weathering
Magma Molten rock under the Earth's surface
Mineral A naturally occurring, inorganic solid, with a crystalline atomic structure and a definite chemical composition
Inner Core The innermost layer of the Earth. It is a solid ball of iron
Outer Core The thickest layer of the Earth. It is a liquid.
Mantle The layer under the crust of the Earth. It is the layer all the plates are "floating" on. It is a semi solid.
Crust The thinnest and top layer of the Earth. There are two types of crust: Oceanic, and continental.
