Cell Processes

This cell structure controls what materials pass into and out of the cell. Cell membrane
Allowing some things into the cell but not others, mean the cell membrane is selectively permeable
Why is it necessary for materials to enter and leave the cell to get rid of wastes, to get food, to survive
Molecules moving from a high concentration to a low concentration is diffusion
The diffusion of water osmosis
cell processes requiring no energy are called passive
If water is greater inside a plant, than on the outside, the plant will wilt, or die
Cell membranes contain what that allows substances to pass through. pores
oxygen and carbon dioxide move from the blood into cells by diffusion
Diffusion takes place until there is an even distribution of molecules
Movement of molecules requiring cell energy active transport
Your rubber egg represented a Cell's membrane
Solution that made egg get bigger distilled water
Solution that made egg get smaller corn syrup
The egg experiment demonstrated which process Osmosis
If a freshwater fish were placed in salt water, it cells would Shrink
Process that allows balloons to deflate Diffusion
Cellular organisms found in moist areas Protists
Brain, Stomach, and Leaf are examples of Organs
Similar cells doing similar jobs make up a Tissue
The level of organization from largest to smallest is Organism, Organ system, Organ, Tissue, Cell, Organelle
Group of tissues working together Organ
Organ systems contain More than 1 organ working together
All cells have the same shape and job False
Red blood cells are needed to Distribute oxygen to the body
Name structures found in plants but not animals Chloroplast and cell wall
Larger vacuoles are found in plants
One celled organism similar to plants and animals protists
Animal like protist paramecium
Plant like protist Euglena
Single celled organism carry out the same basic life functions as multicellular organism True
System that gets rid of the bad stuff excretory
System that allows us to know what is going on around us Nervous, like you are for this test...!
System that transports stuff Circulatory
System that takes in good stuff Respiratory, and Digestive
System that moves are body aroung Skeletal and Muscular
