| asteroids | a small rocky body orbiting the sun. |
| comets | a celestial object consisting of a nucleus of ice and dust and, when near the sun, a “tail” of gas and dust particles pointing away from the sun. |
| dwarf planet | a celestial body resembling a small planet but lacking certain technical criteria that are required for it to be classed as such. |
| gravity | the force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth, |
| moon phases | The lunar phase or phase of the moon is the shape of the illuminated |
| seasons | each of the four divisions of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) |
| solar system | the collection of eight planets and their moons in orbit around the sun, together with smaller bodies in the form of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets |
| tides | the alternate rising and falling of the sea, usually twice in each lunar day at a particular place, due to the attraction of the moon and sun. |
| axis | an imaginary line about which a body rotates. |
| constellations | a group of stars forming a recognizable pattern that is traditionally named after its apparent form or identified with a mythological figure. Modern astronomers divide the sky into eighty-eight constellations with defined boundaries. |
| gravitational pull | The gravitational pull of the Earth is the attraction that the Earth exerts on an object or that an object exerts on the Earth. |
| LUNAR ECLIPSE | an eclipse in which the moon appears darkened as it passes into the earth's shadow. |
| planet | a celestial body moving in an elliptical orbit around a star. |
| rotation | the action of rotating around an axis or center. |
| solar eclipse | an eclipse in which the sun is obscured by the moon. |
| stars | a fixed luminous point in the night sky that is a large, remote incandescent body like the sun. |
| tilt | move or cause to move into a sloping position. |
