Neptune | It has 2 moons. It takes 165 years to orbit around the sun. It rotates on its axis every 16 hours. |
Meteor | A streak of light formed by a space rock burning up as it falls into Earth's atmosphere |
Spiral Galaxy | Disk-shaped with a bulge in the middle and arms that spiral out of the bulge. |
Star | Objects in space made up of gases which make their own light and heat |
Venus | Sometimes is called the "evening star". It takes 225 days to revolve around the sun. Its surface is covered with clouds. It is about the same size as Earth. |
Ellipitcal Galaxy | Shaped like a flattened or deflated football |
Mercury | Closest planet to the sun. The smallest planet. It takes 88 days to orbit the sun. it rotates on its axis once every 59 days. |
Irregular Galaxy | Does not have a distinct shape. They are the least common galaxy. |
Earth | Turns on its axis once every 24 hours. Water covers more than half its surface. Orbits the sun every 365 days. It is the only planet to have life on it. |
Mars | Ice at the poles never melts. It rotates on its axis every 24 1/2 hours. It revolves around the sun once every two years. |
Jupiter | Ten times bigger than Earth. It takes 12 years to orbit the sun. It's the biggest planet in our solar system. Its air is filled with poisonous gases. |
Saturn | The 2nd biggest planet in our solar system. Rotates every 10 hours on its axis. There is no water found on this planet. It takes 29 1/2 years to revolve around the sun. |
Uranus | Is very cold because it is far away from the sun. It has 5 moons that revolve around it. |
