Planets Vocab

TermDefinition
Mercury The planet closest to the Sun with a rocky surface.
Venus The planet 2nd from the Sun with a thick atmosphere.
Earth The 3rd planet from the Sun and the only planet that can sustain life.
Mars The 4th planet from the Sun which has a red rocky surface and polar ice caps.
Jupiter The 5th planet from the Sun and the largest planet with a continuous storm called the giant red spot.
Saturn The 6th planet from the Sun with many rings.
Uranus The 7th planet from the Sun which is blue in color.
Neptune The 8th planet from the Sun that has many storms.
Pluto A dwarf planet at the edge of the solar system.
