TermDefinition
Microorganism an organism that is Microscopic, or not visible to the human eye.
Microbe Microorganisms can be unicellular or multicellular.
Unicellular organisms are single-celled organisms.
Binary fission A type of asexual reproduction in which the organism divides in two.
Cunjugation A processes in which organisms fuse, or attach themselves to each other.
Budding A bud forms as a small growth on the parent cell.
Cell The basic unit of life.
Tissue A group of similar cell that make up a function.
Organ A group of two of more type of tissue that works together.
Organ system A group of organs working together.
Passive transport The movement of subsistence through membranes without the use of cells energy.
Osmosis The movement of water particles through a membrane.
Cellular respiration Plants and animals use the energy from glucose through this processes.
Active transport When energy is required to move materials through a cell membrane this takes place.
Cell cycle Processes of growth,division, and replacement within cells.
Mitosis As the cells nucleus divides , each new cell receives a full set of chromosomes.
Zygote Two cells join to form a single cell called this.
Meiosis The nucleus of a cell divides twice in this processes.
Fertilization This occurs when a sperm cell joins an egg cell.
