microorganism an organism that is microscopic, or not visible to the unaided eye

Binary fission is a type of asexual reproduction

mitosis The cell's nucleus divides, each new cell receives a full set of chromosomes.
zygote the two cells join to form a single cell
meiosis the nucleus of a cell divides twice
fertilization occurs when a sperm cell joins an egg cell
passive transport is the movement of substances through membranes
osmosis is the movement of water particles through the membrane
cellular respiration During cellular respiration cells break down glucose to release energy
active transport energy is required to move minerals and nutrients into or out of a cell
cell is the basic unit of capable of life
tissue a group of similar cells that work together
organ is a group of two or more types of tissue
organ system a group of organs working together
