| Binary fission | a type of asexual reproduction |
| Conjugation | a process in which organisms fuse |
| budding | some fungi such as yeast reproduce asexually though this |
| cell | the basic unit of life and the smallest part of a living thing |
| tissue | a group of cells that work together to make up this |
| organ | a group of two or more tissues that work together to make this |
| organ system | a group of organs working together to make this |
| passive transport | this is the movement of substances though membranes whitout the use of the cells energy |
| osmosis | is the movement of water particles through a membrane |
| cellular respiration | plants and animals use the energy from glucose through this process |
| active transport | when energy is required to move materials through a cell membrane this takes place |
| cell cycle | ongoing process of growth,division,and replacement |
| mitosis | the division of the nucleus while a cell is dividing into two identical cells |
| zygote | male and female cells join to form a single cell called this |
