Mineral A naturally occurring solid inorganic element or compound having a uniform composition and a regularly internal structure.
Crystal Structure
Moh's hardness scale A scale rating minerals hardness from least hardest to hardest.
Luster The shine of the surface of a mineral.
hardness The measure of easily a mineral can be scratched.
Cleavage The breaking of certain minerals along specific planes making smooth surfaces.
Fracture The breaking of a mineral.
Streak The characteristic color of a mineral after it has been ground into a powder.
Crystilization The act or process of a mineral crystallizing.
Solution A mixture in which particles of one or more substances are distributed uniformly throughout another substance so that the mixture homogeneous at the molecular or iron level.
Vein A long deposit of mineral or rock that fills the void formed by a fracture or fault in another rock.
geode A small hollow usually rounded rock lined on the inside with inward pointing crystals.
